Are you starting your own business?
Did you know that it is really easy to to setup and maintain your own website? We bet that your web designer didn't tell you that!
Here at revolver, we understand how intimidating and expensive it can be to set up your new business on the internet.
Many web designers will offer you complex solutions and ongoing fees. They will often try to sell you their own outdated content management system. Well, it doesn't have to be that way!
Our mission is to demystify the process of setting up a website. We will show you the simplest and least expensive options to set your business up in a professional way on the internet. Why? We believe that if we look after you now, then you will come back to us when your business grows, and your needs become more sophisticated.
Here is our step-by-step guide to getting yourself set up:
1. Consider your brand and image. Remember, you don't necessarily have to get your web 'look' designed by your web developer. It may be better to get it done by a design company. And don't let your design company sell you their own web content management system.
2. Choose your website name (domain name). Check to see if it is available on sites such as www.letshost.ie
3. Choose a hosting company. This site is hosted by www.letshost.ie, but there are many more Irish and overseas companies who will do it for you. This should be the only part of the process where you need to commit to ongoing costs.
4. Find a web developer who will set up your site using an open-source content management system such as Drupal or Joomla. Remember, don't let your web developer sell you a content management system created by themselves. This will tie you to them, and may introduce unnecessary costs.
5. Consider a marketing strategy using a mixture of traditional advertising and web 2.0 social marketing tools such as Twitter, Facebook, MySpace etc.
We are available to help you with any or all of the above - no project is too small.
